Carmen Durso is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, MA, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 1st Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been an Assistant Attorney General, a Town Counsel in Boxborough, Tisbury and Medway, an Instructor at New England School of Law, a lecturer for the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, a member of the Advisory Board of the National Crime Victim Bar Association, and a board member of Massachusetts Citizens for Children, a child advocacy organization, since 2005. In 2003, he was the recipient of the NCVBA’s Frank Carrington Champion of Civil Justice Award.
Mr. Durso has represented clients in all phases of sexual abuse litigation over many years, and for the past 30 years has made that area of the law the main focus of his law practice, during which time he:
- Was one of the attorneys in 2002-2003 who managed the Boston Archdiocese Clergy Abuse litigation, on behalf of 552 survivors of abuse
- Represented hundreds of other victims of clergy abuse in churches of all religious denominations
- Sued numerous parents, relatives, and boyfriends who abused children in their care
- Brought suit against doctors and hospitals on behalf of hundreds of patients who were sexually abused during medical examinations
- Made claims against camp counselors, boy scout leaders, and youth group leaders
- Litigated Title IX claims against several private and public schools because of sexual discrimination, abuse, and assault of students by both male and female teachers, and by other students
- Sued several mental health professionals who sexually assaulted patients during therapy
